The WS Rescue Mission is excited to open their new Mobile Food Pantry at Oaklawn Baptist Church in Winston-Salem on Friday, May 7th. They are excited to partner with Oaklawn in our community where food insecurities are growing. We will be offering food assistance weekly on Friday mornings for anyone that comes for help.
Clients can also come to their Client Choice Food Pantry in Downtown Winston-Salem. They call it the Client-Choice Food Pantry because the clients are able to be escorted in and take a shopping cart and pick and choose the food of their choice. This dignified manner allows a shopping experience without the cash register ringing at the end of their shopping. By providing free food of their choice, we know all the food they are choosing will be consumed. It is the most effective way of distributing food and minimizes waste.
Locations and Times
Downtown Winston-Salem – 710 N. Trade Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 – The Client Choice Food Pantry is open on Tuesdays at 9:00 am and Fridays at 1:00 pm.
Oaklawn Baptist Church – 3500 Kernersville Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 – The Mobile Food Pantry is open every Friday at 9:00 am.
Food Pantry Required Client Information:
- Two identification cards, one of which must be a current picture ID.
- Current utility bill or governmental letter that validates proof of address.
- Proof of identity for each individual living in the home (ex. social security card).
