The main focus for the rest of this year In Missions will be three Christmas ministries: Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes, the PMBA Christmas Toy Store, and the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.

Boxes for Operation Christmas Child will be available for pick up in the foyer on Sundays. Filled, physical boxes must be returned to Oaklawn by November 11. Visit http://www.samaritanspurse.org for more information about the items to be included in the shoeboxes. Fill a box(es) yourself,  or contribute items at church and we’ll have a special day to fill as many shoeboxes as possible! The Missions Team has created an Amazon wish list for those who would like to easily contribute items and  have them ship directly to the church Use this link to find it:

NEW this year: You can now fill a shoe box without having to go shopping. You can “Build a Box Online”! Go to the samaritans purse link above, and look for the Build a Box section. For $25, you can choose items in different categories, and they even provide the box! Your $25 purchase price will cover the cost of the items AND the shipping. This is perfect for people at risk who want to take part. Cash/check donations will be used for shipping and to fill any gaps. Call Deb Weaver with questions at 336.831.3455.

For the PMBA Toy Store – Bring new, unwrapped toys to be dropped off in the lobby or in the Swaim Building. Ages of the kids are 6-18, with a price range between 15 and 30 dollars. The Missions Team has set up an Amazon wish list for those who would like to order online. Here’s that link:

Those items will ship directly to Oaklawn. Look for bargains at places like Kohls, Ollies, Prime specials, etc. The deadline for donations is November 29. The toy store also needs stocking stuffers, like: winter hats, scarves, and gloves, and small items. Cash/check donations (checks made out to OBC) will be used as needed.

The PMBA Toy Store will be on December 5 and will be held at Glenn View Baptist Church. There are multiple shifts available if you would like to help on that day. Please contact pam@glennview.org to sign up. If you have any questions, call Deb Weaver at 336.831.3455.

For the Lottie Moon Christmas collection you will find special envelopes in the sanctuary, along with the tithe envelopes. Be sure to put “L. Moon” in the memo! Our goal for this year will be announced soon.
